The Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization’s Section for Fundamental Issues of Evangelization in the World has signed an agreement with NTT DATA Japan Corporation to strengthen collaboration in the country. One of the main objectives is to support the Holy See's participation in this year’s Expo 2025 which is being held this year in Osaka-Kansai.
The signing ceremony took place on February 10, 2025 in the Vatican, with Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, and Takashi Sakano, head of the Social Infrastructure Solutions Sector of NTT DATA signing off the agreement.
Thanks to the new accord, NTT DATA will collaborate with the Dicastery for Evangelization on various projects, and promote values through the use of advanced technologies.
2025 is a year of great importance for the Catholic Church: the Holy Year coincides with the participation of the Holy See in the Osaka-Kansai Expo with a dedicated Pavilion whose theme will be "Beauty Brings Hope".
NTT DATA, for its part, has always promoted social development following the corporate philosophy of "creating new systems and values through information technology for a more prosperous and harmonious society".
Archbishop Fisichella said: “NTT DATA is our technology partner in Japan. We appreciate their support for our participation in the Osaka-Kansai Expo and we are pleased to collaborate with a company that understands the meaning and importance of the role of the Holy See, which extends to so many parts of the world."
During this year’s Expo, the Holy See Pavilion will offer an innovative experience using NTT’s sound technology, which will allow visitors to listen to only the sounds and voices they choose to hear, thus improving their enjoyment of the exhibition space.
Through this agreement, the Dicastery for Evangelization and NTT DATA intend also to develop projects using cutting-edge technologies to address social challenges such as the preservation of cultural heritage and the promotion of sources of knowledge, thus contributing to the creation of a future based on innovation and shared memory.
