(Vatican City, September 22, 2025) – The Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization’s Section for Fundamental Questions of Evangelization in the World, in collaboration with the Salesian University Institute of Venice (IUSVE), is to present a major innovation in digital communications at the Holy See Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
From September 22 to 28, Harmonia, a web app that transforms Pope Leo XIV's message of peace into a global chorus for universal brotherhood, will be presented
The IUSVE University team at Expo 2025 Osaka, whose involvement was made possible thanks to a collaboration with the Dicastery for Evangelization and the IUSVE "Deutsche Post Stiftung" project, will be led by Professor Michela Drusian, head of communications, who will be accompanied by students Matteo Barbassi, Alessia Fattorel, Naike Pittana, and Alice Tessari. They will present the project at the Holy See Pavilion.
The app, which is available on the website harmoniaexpo.org was inspired by the words spoken by the Holy Father in his opening address on the day of his election, May 8, 2025:
“Help us, one and all, to build bridges through dialogue and encounter, joining together as one people, always at peace.”
The project, which emerged from an idea of Marco Sanavio, director of IUSVE institutional communications, and was developed by computer scientists Luca Isoardi and Mattia Collino with the support of university students and Professor Alessio Pomaro, will allow users to record the Pontiff's words in various languages, displaying the waveform and specific characteristics of each voice in real time.
The most innovative aspect of Harmonia lies in its final phase: once all the recordings have been collected, Artificial Intelligence will develop a single composite voice, the "Voice of the World," which will represent the union of all those who participated in the project, thus producing a forceful call for global peace.
"This initiative perfectly represents our Salesian educational vocation," said Father Nicola Giacopini, director of IUSVE, "using new technologies to build bridges between peoples and give voice to the cry for peace which rises from the heart of humanity."
The Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, commented:
"This initiative represents a clear example of how new technologies can be used for good, creating real, not just digital, relationships. The importance of communication as a tool for unity and peace is increasingly evident."
